back to the student life

...Well, back here at Hamilton now. Went to Waiheke Island with a couple people of the group for the free weekend. We were blessed with a chain of good luck upon arrival. When we recieved keys to our house, I thought that somehow we were on a hidden camera reality TV show. Our house was absolutely gorgeous. After we got all settled in and finished celebrating, we had a nice "family" dinner.
At first, we thought we were being too loud when our neighbors came over, but in fact, the husband, Boyd, was just trying to get us "kids" to come see the comet with him. Our jaws dropped. Are you serious? You want to take a bunch of loud, college kids to see a comet in your car? That was only the beginning. Throughout the course of our weekend stay, the kiwi state of mind showed true. Our neighbors general hospitality to us shined. They offered us rides to the local fairs and encouraged us to participate in as many local activities as possible. When walking down the street, every person who walked by you said hello and how are ya?
At night, you couldn't hear a sound. It was so quiet, it was almost eery. Money, cars.. none of that was an issue on the island. I learned a lot about the history of Waheike Island too from our lovely neighbors who have lived there for a while.
Words can not express the amount of joy and gratitude I had for being able to visit such a lovely place. They say "what happens in vegas, stays in vegas..", well what happens in Waheike stays in Waheike because, well, frankly, words can not express the beauty and culture.
