The Half Way Mark...
This week was not as adventurous as last week but it was still a lot of fun. I was really bummed out that we couldn't go to the White Island due to violent waves, but I did enjoy getting to go to Mount Maunganui instead though. That was probably one of my favorite lectures and it made me realize that I find rocky intertidal to be one of the more interesting habitats because there was so much flora and fauna there. It was no surprise how fast I passed out when we got back to Hamilton, especially after having to all share the same room while staying at the Marae. The Marae was defiantly an experience that I wont forget, I did think it was going to be a little more intense then what it was though. After catching up on some much needed rest we got to go to Cathedral Cove and Tairua. Although the Hot water beach was a bust I thought Cathedral Cove was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The hike there and back was by no means a good time, neither was the hike up to Paku. While on top of Paku I saw the most amazing view of my life and I even learned a bit. I found it interesting how the two beaches, Tairua and Pauanui, were so different and yet so close. I can now even distinguish a reflexive beach and a Dissipative beach. The week may have not been as exciting as I wanted but I learned more then I thought. Oh and good news We're still going to White Island!!!!!!! yay
