NZ blog 1

Although we have only been in New Zealand for exactly a week, we have seen and done so many wonderful things. The day that we arrived, we took a hike up to mount eden a dormant volcano located in the heart of the city of Auckland. That night, we stayed at a hostile and got to know everyone in the group. The next day, we travelled to a near by island called rangetoto that was a 20 minute ferry ride from Auckland. This island was also a dormant volcano and much of the landscape was made up of igneous rock that was still in the form of a lava flow. After spending one night in Auckland, we were ready to move on and took a bus north to the bay of islands. While in the bay of islands we went sand boarding on a giant dune, drove up 90 mile beach, and saw the meeting house were the maorie people came and signed the treaty with the British and thus creating the New Zealand that we know today. When then left after two nights in the bay of islands and finally settled in our permanent location in Hamilton. This was the best part of the trip so far because we were finally able to unpack our clothes and sleep in your own room. Thus far in Hamilton, we have gone black water rafting which was the most amazing experience of my life. I have never seen anything like the glow worms that we saw in the cave
