Awesome stuff from the first weekend!

Hey guys
So yeah this weekend has been great! I'd have to say that my favorite part was Russell, it was such a cool town and kayaking out into the harbor was awesome (once i figured out how to steer) I also really liked Pahia, the beach there was nice and I enjoyed just hanging out at the bar. Rangitoto was also incredible and the view of Auckland from the summit is unbeatable. The Hostel in Auckland was also really cool. So in short: everything in this country so far has been beyond all of my expectations. I'm looking forward to zorbing, seeing a live kiwi (keeping my fingers crossed for Stewart Island) and the stay in the Marae, as an anthro major I'd really love to be the chief but its whatever. I love it here and I dont want to leave, like ever.
Some interesting things about the kiwi:
The kiwi is a member of the same genus that includes the ostritch, emu, cassowary, and the now extinct moa and elephant bird. They're are four different types of kiwis and they live all over the country. The best place to view a live kiwi is on Stuart Island (again I'm crossing my fingers). The curature and shape of the kiwis beak is unique among birds, and the fact that the nostrils are located on the end of the beak also makes these birds unique. The feathers of the kiwi are so fine that they almost look like feathers, and they are as you all know by now completely flightless and in fact their scientific name (I can't think of it off the top of my head) means "without wings." so in short, this is an incredible animal. I hope you all are as excited about seeing one as I am (even though I dont think any of you are lol).
Oh yeah and rabbit sheerins is quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Cheers!!!
