Chris C

Hey everyone. I'm Chris, a junior in the environmental sciences track. I'm defiantly looking forward to this trip and excited to be doing something more productive over the winter session. I never thought it was possible but twiddling my thumbs for 7 weeks last year for some reason just lost its spark. Anyway, I've heard great things from friends of mine who have traveled to New Zealand in the past so I really can't wait. But that 13 hour plane ride seems just a bit daunting. I think we can watch the whole Lord of the Rings Trilogy and still have 4 hours to spare, scary....
Anyway, one of the big things I'm really excited for during this trip aside from all the amazing things that Dr. Trembanis and Dr. Miller have told us are planned for us is scuba diving. I just received my advanced diving certification and plan on going to the poor knights during out free weekend. (Jacques Cousteau said it's one of the top ten dives in the world). here's a website for it.

If anyone is interested in scuba diving while down in NZ, poor knights or somewhere else please let me know. My email is coccaroc@udel.edu. Thanks

Art, you said you'd be impressed if someone could remember the spelling of that place about a guy, with a big knee, and a flute to his loved ones. Just how impressed? Like a pat on the shoulder kind of impressed or like a letter grade kind of impressed?

Ok since you have responded to the name game challenge I will play the role of Howie Mandel and make a deal. I'll give a half-letter grade boost (e.g. B to a B+) in my class to anyone who can standup and recite the place name. For a full letter grade I will have to try and think up some greater degree of difficulty challenge. Good one.

scuba diving sounds like a lot of fun! does a person have to be certified/have a certificate thingy in order to be able to?

I think this may be able to ease your mind about the 13 hour flight. If you watch the 'normal' Lord of the Rings trilogy you might have 4 hours to spare, but if one were to watch the "Platinum Series Special Extended Edition" you would only be left with a miniscule 2 hours of free time. I'm sure after that much Lord of the Rings you could use a 2 hour nap :)
