intense!

hey there everybody! My name's Cat; I'm a freshman Bio major. I seriously cannot wait until we get to New Zealand! That we're hiking to a volcano immediately after we get off the plane tells me it's going to be a pretty intense five weeks.

I also love plane rides, especially long ones (call me weird), but I really do. So I guess i'm looking forward to it. In a plane with everybody, it'll be chill and hopefully a nice chance to relax and get to know people.

In hopes to properly explore NZ, I bought a copy of Lonely Planet's NZ guide. Some of the places on North Island sound sickkkk. I definitely want to go to at least one of the national parks, do some hiking and sightseeing. I love the outdoors and the elements, so some caving or canoeing/seakayaking or anything else, really, are definitely a possibility. Apparently, theres a zoo in Rotorua where visitors can play with lion cubs! Another locale would be the mythical 800 year old pohutukawa tree up at Cape Reinga.

It seems like a fair amount of people already have an idea as to how to spend their 4 day weekend. As for me, I have no idea- do some adrenaline-rush activities, or explore the more forest-y South Island, perhaps really get to know a region, or do a little wine tasting? haha. Hopefully, time will tell.

I found a pretty cool site that has a lot of stuff on NZ, geared for visitors looking to really experience the country. The excellent organization of the site is a bonus. It's even got activities and stuff categorized by regions in NZ.

Until then! take care and have a happy break!
